Fujisan Haiku Contest 2013

This year, once again, we received many interesting Fujisan Haiku from all four corners of the earth. I appreciate, and indeed echo, the passion that contributors have for Fujisan. Irrespective of whether they have climbed Fujisan or not, I got a good sense of how the vision of this sacred mountain offers solace through small happiness, and provides encouragement to people around the world who are experiencing suffering.Nevertheless, rather than the traditional, nostalgic type of haiku that simply praises the graceful figure of Fujisan, I thought the more personal type of haiku, like those of the Grand Prize winner and the other 18 prize-winning poets, were better and more interesting because they embraced the strong emotional impact felt by each writer. A poster of Fujisan stuck up in jail… A picture of Fuji painted on the Berlin Wall… The magnitude of Fuji discovered at the top of a roller-coaster ride… Each writer has a sense of unpredictability, and has a good awareness of the spiritually liberating effect of Fujisan. Perhaps there is also an old woman somewhere in the Romanian countryside, pressing a picture of Fuji to her breast as she sleeps in the dead of night
The haiku truly reminded me that Fujisan is, sure enough, a sacred mountain worthy of being inscribed as a World Cultural Heritage site.

Concours AFH-FÊTE DES FEUILLES à Lyon 2012
Concursul de haiku a fost organizat de Asociaţia Francofonă din Lyon şi Kukai Lyon, în cadrul Sărbătorii frunzelor din 10-25 noiembrie 2012, din Lyon
La concurs s-au înregistrat 376 poeme. Au fost selectate 31 de haiku-uri. Haiku-urilor scrise de isabel Asunsolo, Patricia Roullé şi Frank Vasseur, Ion Codrescu le va desena câte o haiga. Ceilalţi poeţi selecţionaţi vor primi broşura concursului. Printre cei selecţionaţi sunt 4 poeţi români.

On October 9 and 10, 2011, AIU Festival was held at Akita International University（国際教養大学）in Akita prefecture（秋田県）, Northern Honshu, Japan.
The festival, whose theme is HOOP ～世界とハチあわせ！～, had 3Philosophies : Academic（学問）, Culture（文化）, and Entertainment（楽しさ）.

Some Romanian haiku poets also donated their haiga or haiku to the AIU festival in order to show their condolences, prayers, or hopes through the exhibition to the Japanese people.
Mrs. Maria Tirenescu inRomania kindly sent her haiku through Ms. Patricia Lidia’s e-mail on August 30.
She also kindly sent me two Christmas pictures this morning.

O nouă postare pe blogul Akita International Haiku Network
În data de 19 noiembrie 2011, prof. Hidenori Hiruta a postat un articol care conţine haiku-uri scrise de poeţi români. Titlul acestui articol este Haiku from Romanian poets for AIU Festival 2011 (1) . Următoarea postare, "Haiku from Romanian poets for AIU Festival 2011 (2)", va apărea în 26 noiembrie.
Pe Grupul Romanianhaiku, Patricia scrie despre un nou episod din prietenia pe care ne-o arată prof. Hidenori Hiruta:
Reading RO KU Magazine, I found that haiku is one of the key words to tell what Japanese culture is like. I also found that haiku is loved by the Romanian poets.
Here I would like to express my deepest respects to the Romanian Haiku Group and for those who introduced haiku to the Romanian poets.
Lecturând Revista RO KU, am constatat că haiku-ul este unul dintre cuvintele-cheie care definesc cultura japoneză. De asemenea, am constatat că haiku-ul este iubit de poeţii români.
Aş dori să îmi exprim respectul cel mai profund faţă de Grupul Român de Haiku şi faţă de cei care au prezentat haiku-ul poeţilor români.
